When looking for adventuring
gear in Greyhawk, a visit to Eridok's
Expedition Provisions is as close as it comes to one-stop shopping.
Eridok's prices are a bit
higher (20%) than those of specialty shops, but the quality is always
good and the selection unmatched. Much of his stock is purchased from
other carefully selected craftsmen and resold, and virtually anything
that an adventurer, explorer, or merchant caravaneer requires can be
found in his shop. The attached building contains a smithy with enough
skilled workers to repair or fabricate everything from custom armor and
weapons to iron wagon wheels and battalion-sized cooking pots. The
cheerful owner, a retired adventurer, has the resources to outfit
an entire caravan if the need arises (and the profit is adequate). He
could also outfit fairly sizable military forces, and has taken
commissions from local authorities, as well as foreign governments. He
is, however,
very careful about who he does large-contract military-type business
with, only doing business with end-user legal and benevolant
organizations and governments.
Eridok owns a large warehose in the Warf Quarter (W9) where he keeps
most of his heavy traffic and bulky items. Transactions are not
conducted at the warehouse, however. All sales must be finalized at the
main shop. He also is part owner in a trading ship, a caravel, that
travels fairly frequently between Verbobonc, Dyvers, Greyhawk and
Hardby, and sometimes makes trips as far as Irongate and ports in
Keoland.
DM's Notes: Eridok Golbedor
(NG human male, Ftr12) has seen a lot of action in his previous
occupation as an adventurer, and is nearly legendary among members of
the City Watch and those who frequent the Mercenaries' Guildhall. He
has contacts that reach all through the Watch and the Guild, right up
to the top. A word from Eridok would open any door in those
institutions, although he provides that sort of help only rarely as he
believes that up-and-coming adventurers should pull themselves up by
their own bootstraps.
Among the standard equipment Eridok sells, he does from time to time
have specialty equipment. Mastercraft items are commonly available, as
well as other particularly finely crafted items such as elven or
dwarven-forged gear. Rarely magical items such as +1 weapons or armor
can also be seen behind a special counter.
Eridok has a scar on his right cheek, is missing two fingers from
his
left hand, and walks with a very slight limp. He enjoys working,
although his many years of adventuring made him extremely wealthy. If
trouble arises in his shop, he can wield almost any weapon at hand
without penalty, and his personal gear is never very far. Over the many
years he has acquired a significant amount of personal magical
equipment,
however his most prized possession is a vorpal longsword he calls "Sunder".
