January 4th, 2007: It's a new year, time to break out some new characters as well. This week's topic was put to me in chat several weeks ago and I finally decided how to handle it. Tharizdun is a tricky deity to cover in this comic since he has no discernable form and he is typically imprisoned. So I figured a funny way to approach Tharizdun episodes could be through his cult instead. Gradually over the course of 100 issues I've leaked mortals into this comic primarily about gods (the Herald and Kas spring to mind). I think in this case T is best represented by his insane and eternally tenacious cultists who never tire of ways to free their dark lord. For those who wonder about the cultist robes, the design is lifted straight from the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. And that drawing is surely adapted from the old 1E module, the Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun, where it describes purple robes with pointy hats. The illustration in that module however is not in full color and it embarrassingly comes off looking like a group of Ku Klux Klan members. In addition somewhere along the line the inverted pyramid symbol of tFToT got replaced by the spiral symbol. Who knows. The references to the three Theorparts come from Gary Gygax's Gord series, which I've yet to read but I've learned alot through google. Anyhow, this may not be the last you see of this duo.... Enjoy.
